Can AI replace SaaS?

Can AI replace SaaS?

With AI spreading its tentacles almost into every sphere of life, it was natural that it would come to this. But there are some unique fundamental differences with this particular question. Let us spend some time going thru those.

1)Most of the instances we have seen so far touches upon AI replacing or rendering redundant, a role which was financially rewarding. But here for the first time we are seeing that is not entirely true.

2)AI has gobbled up (or is threating to) roles across the world, across different cultures, almost uniformly. THreat perception of AI is same whether you are a coder in the US or in India. Japanese are as much affected as say, Mexicans. For the first time, we are seeing Asian cultures, especially India is involved.

3)In some of the other paradigms where AI has the potential to replace roles, the role getting replaced has been the same for generations. For example, a coder getting replaced has been a coder all his life. But here, that's not true.

As has been immortalized by the epic Hindi seriel, "Kyunki SaaS bhi kabhi bahu thi", a SaaS has not been a SaaS for ever - she had been playing a different role in her capacity as a bahu.

Looking at the overall global trend of AI threating traditional roles, one would be tempted to conclude that the same would happen here. But here, the dynamics are totally different. Now I would encourage the reader to scroll up and go over the differences one more time before resuming with the article.

AI taking over the role of a SaaS is not going to result in any financial benefits - often the biggest incentive elsewhere. Has anyone heard of any fixed salaries for Saas? Obviously no. There goes the biggest incentive out of the window.

With the trend in India towards nuclear families, often, there is no SaaS role at all in the household, to begin with. So, where is the question of replacing it ? Admittedly in the olden days with big familes, a SaaS could be a SaaS for multiple bahus. Exposure was more but these days, well, that's not true anymore

In other fields, the potential threat for AI replacing a particular role is on the increase all the time. But the opposite is the case here.

Typically one would spend around 25 years as a bahu before one graduates into the role of a SaaS. So it is only after you hit the age of 55 that AI, theoretically, could become a threat. Let's face it - at that age, it is not even a threat!

Other countries never had the SaaS looming over a family like in India. So geographically also, this threat is not pan global.

So, in my considered opinion, if you are a SaaS, you can sleep easy. AI is not about to grab your job
